Who We Help

Three joints. One root-cause approach.

Joint pain doesn’t always start where it hurts. Often the shoulder, hip, or knee is just where the body finally gave up compensating for something happening elsewhere. We find what’s actually driving it — and treat that.

Shoulder Pain
Reaching, lifting, sleeping on it.
Stiffness in the morning. A dull ache after a long day. Sharp pain reaching overhead. Many shoulder cases trace back to the cervical spine — the nerves that control the shoulder originate in the neck. Address the source, and the shoulder follows.
Hip Pain
Walking, sitting, sleeping.
A persistent ache in the hip joint, the groin, or the side. Pain that wakes you up at night when you roll over. Often connected to lumbar nerve issues, pelvic alignment, or compensation from an old injury — not just the hip itself.
Knee Pain
Stairs, squatting, getting up.
Pain going down stairs more than up. Stiffness after sitting. Discomfort with exercise that used to feel easy. Knee pain often reflects what’s happening at the hip and pelvis — treating the knee alone usually doesn’t hold.

Why Choose Us

The pain is in your joint. The cause often isn’t.

Most joint pain isn’t actually a joint problem — it’s a nerve or alignment problem showing up in the joint. Shoulder pain often originates in the cervical spine, where the nerves controlling the shoulder live. Hip and knee pain frequently trace back to lumbar nerve compression or pelvic misalignment. Treat the joint alone and the relief is temporary. Treat the cause and the joint stops complaining.

Our process starts with measurement, not guesswork. A full nervous system scan and digital X-rays show us where the interference actually lives, then we use Torque Release Technique to make precise, instrument-based adjustments — gentle, no twisting, no force. When imaging shows nerve compression in the spine that’s driving the joint pain, we add Cervi-Trac or Back On Trac decompression to take pressure off the nerve so the body can heal. The combination has helped many patients avoid joint surgery, cortisone injections, and long-term medication.

When Decompression Is Indicated
Joint pain driven by spinal nerve compression responds especially well.
  • Shoulder pain from cervical nerve issues
  • Hip pain from lumbar nerve compression
  • Radiating pain into the limb
  • Numbness or tingling in the joint area
  • Pain that gets worse with sitting
  • Pre-surgical alternatives

Joint pain evaluation at Authority Chiropractic San Antonio
1
In-Depth Evaluation
A thorough consultation about how your joint pain started, what makes it worse, what activities you’ve given up, and what you’ve already tried — injections, physical therapy, anti-inflammatories, or another provider.
2
Digital X-Rays & Nervous System Scan
Imaging and neuro scans to identify whether your joint pain is local to the joint itself or driven by nerve compression elsewhere in the spine. The scans tell us where the real source is.
3
Your Personalized Care Plan
A specific plan built around your scans — usually TRT adjustments, paired with decompression therapy when imaging shows nerve compression at the root of the joint pain.

Joint Pain FAQs

Common questions about joint pain.

Sometimes it does — in which case we’ll tell you straight that you’re better served by an orthopedic specialist. But in many cases, what feels like joint pain is actually nerve interference originating in the spine. The nerves that control the shoulder, hip, and knee all originate in the cervical or lumbar spine. When those nerves are compressed or irritated, the pain shows up in the joint even though the joint itself is structurally fine. Imaging tells us which one you have.
For many cases, yes — especially when the joint pain is being driven by nerve compression rather than actual structural damage to the joint itself. We’ve worked with patients who were told joint replacement was the next step and avoided it through TRT adjustments and decompression. We can’t promise that for every case — some joint conditions genuinely require surgical intervention — but if there’s a non-surgical path, your scans will tell us.
It depends on what’s driving the pain and how long it’s been there. Some patients feel a real shift within the first few visits. Pain that’s been around for years — especially when it involves disc compression or significant compensation patterns — usually takes several weeks of consistent care before things meaningfully change. Your scans tell us what’s realistic, and we’ll give you a real timeline at your first visit.
Cortisone reduces inflammation temporarily; PT strengthens supporting muscles. Neither addresses the actual mechanical or neurological cause if the source is upstream of the joint. A lot of our joint pain patients come to us after exhausting those options. The reason it works when other things didn’t is that we’re treating where the pain is coming from, not just where it’s showing up.
Not every joint case is. Some pain comes from genuine structural damage — advanced arthritis, torn cartilage, certain injuries — that’s outside what chiropractic can resolve. The whole point of starting with a thorough evaluation and imaging is to know which kind you have. If your scans suggest the source is purely structural, we’ll tell you straight and refer you to whoever can actually help — rather than have you spend months under our care for something that isn’t our specialty.
