Who We Help

You’ve tried a lot. So have most of our patients.

Chronic pain visitors don’t arrive at our office having done nothing. They arrive having done almost everything. Here’s where most of them have been before they walked in — and why what we do is genuinely different.

Tried Medications
They masked it. Then stopped working.
Anti-inflammatories. Muscle relaxers. Maybe opioids you didn’t want to need. They quieted the pain for a while. Then your body adjusted, the pain came back, and the side effects started outweighing the benefits.
Tried Specialists
Tests came back clean. Pain didn’t.
MRIs. Bloodwork. Maybe a neurologist, a rheumatologist, an orthopedist. Each one ruled things out, none of them found the answer. Some told you the pain was “in your head” or that you’d have to learn to live with it.
Tried Surgery
Or you’re trying to avoid it.
Surgery was supposed to be the answer — and for some people it is. But many of our patients had a procedure and the pain came back, came back differently, or never fully left. If you’re still in pain after surgery, you’re not alone.

Why Choose Us

Chronic pain isn’t a body that’s broken. It’s a nervous system stuck on alert.

Here’s what most chronic pain sufferers are never told: when pain lasts long enough, the nervous system literally rewires itself to amplify pain signals. Touches that shouldn’t hurt start to. Pain that should fade keeps firing. The body is no longer warning you about an active injury — it’s stuck in a loop, sounding alarms over signals it should have stopped sending years ago. That’s why pain pills mask but don’t fix it. Why MRIs come back clean even though you’re clearly hurting. Why surgery sometimes helps and sometimes doesn’t.

Our approach treats the nervous system itself. A full Insight nervous system scan and digital X-rays show us exactly where the interference lives, then Torque Release Technique delivers precise, instrument-based corrections to the spots that are keeping the alarm on. Gentle. No twisting. No medications. For cases where imaging shows ongoing nerve compression feeding the pattern, we add Cervi-Trac or Back On Trac decompression to take pressure off the nerve. The combination has helped patients who’d been told to learn to live with it — finally stop having to.

Signs Your Nervous System Is Sensitized
If three or more of these sound familiar, the pain isn’t just structural.
  • Pain that moves around the body
  • Touches that shouldn’t hurt, but do
  • Pain that flares with stress or weather
  • Trouble sleeping through the night
  • Symptoms that don’t match the imaging
  • Pain after surgery that “worked”

What to Expect

Your first visit, step by step.

No guessing, no generic protocols. Here’s exactly how we approach your chronic pain from the moment you walk in.

Chronic pain evaluation at Authority Chiropractic San Antonio
1
In-Depth Evaluation
A thorough consultation about your full history — how the pain started, how it’s evolved, every treatment you’ve tried, and how it’s affecting your daily life. We listen to the whole story before we recommend anything.
2
Digital X-Rays & Nervous System Scan
The Insight scan measures exactly where your nervous system is amplifying signals or running on overdrive. Combined with X-rays, it gives us a real picture of what’s mechanical, what’s neurological, and what’s feeding the pattern.
3
Your Personalized Care Plan
A specific plan built around what your scans actually show — usually TRT adjustments, sometimes paired with decompression therapy, with a realistic timeline for progress. Real correction takes time, and we’ll tell you straight what to expect.

Chronic Pain FAQs

Common questions about chronic pain.

For many of our patients, yes — even after years. Chronic pain is a different beast than acute pain. The longer it’s been there, the more the nervous system has rewired around it, which means correction takes time. But we’ve worked with patients who’d been in pain for a decade or longer who finally found relief once we addressed what was actually driving it. We can’t promise that for every case. But we won’t string you along either — if your scans suggest we can’t help, we’ll say so on day one.
Clinically, chronic pain is pain that’s lasted longer than three months — well past the point where any acute injury should have healed. In practice, the patients we see in this category have usually been hurting for at least a year, often much longer. The defining feature isn’t just duration. It’s that the pain has stopped responding to standard treatments, and the nervous system has started behaving differently than it did when the pain first started.
We’re going to be straight with you: chronic cases take longer than acute ones. The nervous system has spent years getting good at amplifying pain signals, and unlearning that pattern doesn’t happen in a week. Some patients notice subtle shifts within the first few visits — sleeping a little better, an activity that used to hurt feeling slightly easier. Meaningful change usually unfolds over weeks, sometimes months. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at your first visit based on your scans, not optimistic guesses.
You’re not alone — post-surgical chronic pain is one of the most common situations we see. Surgery addresses structure. It doesn’t address a sensitized nervous system, and it doesn’t fix nerve compression that wasn’t the actual source of the original pain. Many of our patients had what they were told would be the answer, only to find themselves still in pain afterward. We treat the nervous system itself — which is often the layer that surgery couldn’t reach.
It’s a fair question to ask after everything you’ve tried. The honest answer is that we don’t help every case — and we’ll know early. The first visit’s evaluation and scans are designed to tell us whether what we do is the right fit for what’s happening in your body. If your scans show the source is something genuinely outside our scope, we’ll tell you straight on visit one and refer you to whoever can actually help. We’d rather lose a patient on day one than have you spend months under our care for something we can’t fix.
